This twenty-member team from Forsyth, Georgia, did not realize how much they would have to rely on their team motto--“We believe in us”--until three season-ending injuries occurred in their starting sixteen. It took a lot of encouragement, exploration of new strategies, and promotion of team unity, along with new goals, to make this team successful. This team, known for its congenial manner and its individuals’ ability to work together as one, met the goals they set for the 2007 season.
This team also was involved with many hours of community service and served as ambassadors for their school system by promoting spirit and service. Tailgate party appearances, community and school pep rallies, participating in a teacher adoption program in the elementary and middle schools, and wearing pink ribbons at games and competitions for Breast Awareness month were just a few of the ways these girls were able promote their sport, their spirit, and their sportsmanship for Mary Persons High School and the Monroe County School System.

From Kingsland, this is a team of 18 hard working girls who have made a difference in their school and their community. They have cheered over forty games this season and have truly become each others family. Their team motto is UNITY IS STRENGTH. Being a member of this team has taught them how to work together and succeed together. They are very active in their community. As a team, they have complied over 450 hours of community service this year..
Academics are key to this team as well. Many of the athletes are on the A Honor Roll. They have made sportsmanship their focus this year, doing all that they can to promote the level of integrity that should be present at every sporting event. This team is coached by Julie Arnold and is part of an amazing cheer family at CCHS. They are so proud of each other in their accomplishments and are grateful for the honor of Team of the Year.
The GCCA has always been dedicated to recognizing outstanding athletes and coaches with their Cheerleader of the Year Scholarship and Coach of the Year awards.
Members of the Team of the Year received:

"Aint No Mountain High Enough" for the Jones County High School Varsity Competition Cheerleaders. They are this years GCCA Georgia Team of the Year! This squad of 18 is exemplary of dedication to their sport, their team, and their community. Their team lives by the idea that "ATTITUDE DETERMINES ALTITUDE," and this team soars! This co-ed team is a force in the competition world and has truly left their mark within their community.
Their involvement includes raising money for American Cancer Societys Relay for Life and training for "Strong Legs Run," a charity 5-K race in Atlanta. They worked all year long to raise money to build their own cheer facility, and they did it! They reached their goal and now have their own cheer home called The Cheer factory. This is an amazing group of young athletes, coached by Leah Tucker. Congrats Jones County, our 2005 Team of the Year!
